Haha! You know, for most my lunches I just have Rice Crackers with a tin of tuna. Also, these days I only get to sketch in my lunchbreak 1 or 2 times per week. This sketch was done mostly at home.
Also, I keep the lunchbreak count only as a personal measure of difficulty/time (max of 5). If you multiply the count by 2, you will have a pretty close estimate of the number of hours it took me.
Glad you like it 🙂
Thanks Claudia. Turkey inspired my last one – still some tough times ahead for those folk I feel. This one is more related to Zaz’s beautiful “Eblouie Par La Nuit”. The image is taken from the video clip she made for her song.
Even without knowing the French, as you said, you can hear the pain in the music. Looking at the translation, to me it seems to be about being lost in dark places (the night) and loved ones trying to encourage you to break free and live your life.
I don’t care if that is not the meaning – music like art allows interpretation 😉
This sketch is just wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. I do so wish I could convince you to take up etching. You are just so very perceptive in your work. Sigh… At least, make prints of the sketches available. Please. I loved the video and the music too. I agree. I think we got the message …
Okay … you have convinced me. But now all you need to do is convince my boss to reduce my current workload so that I can begin learning 😉
Glad you liked it George. BTW did you get my email about Dean’s hands? Happy to sketch them if you still wish 🙂
Jared, I have collected etchings for forty years. Your drawings are not sketches. They are etchings. I am almost offended by the title “sketches”. It is dismissive of work that is profound on a universal level. What you create with that pencil is the purest form of art.
Well … It isn’t Father’s Day until September in Australia. It seems we are only ahead of you folk in time and not in celebrations.
But I do thank you in advance for your well wishes!
Glad you like it.
Can be a bit tricky to work around the camera at times, but I like to record the process every now and then, especially if inspired by a piece of music.
Just amazing LunchSketch seeing your work transforming and being created like that on your video . Sorry to hear your lunchbreaks seem to be curtailed glad you could find time to draw like this @ home 🙂
To be honest, I’m not a fan of Zaz but her lyrics are great!
Thanks for sharing some French words and French music on your blog. 🙂
The drawing is amazing by the way!!!

Yes it’s mine. It is about 6 hours of sketching condensed into 2 minutes.
I wish I could do art as fast as it looks in the video too 😉

Beautiful! Sad and painful but beautiful
I love your time lapse videos. So great to see the art coming into existence like that.
What was the inspiration, Turkey?

Oh? Interesting. I thought Father’s Day and Mother’s Day were kind of universal but I guess they are not. Shame on me for not knowing.
I’ll try to remember but I can’t make any promises 😉
