Shoot it, Sketch it – Small Hands

Posted on February 4, 2013

A few weeks ago little Miss 8 decided she was “very spoilt” and wanted “to help or give some money to the poor people“. She decided to raise money for Bloom Training Centre in Cambodia. Bloom is one of many organizations around the world whose goal is to put an end to human trafficking and provide assistance to those who have been affected by it.

I posted about Bloom previously in Casting Pearls.

My little Miss 8 has no idea of what these girls have experienced or been saved from, but simplistically she knows that there are some girls in Cambodia who are not safe and Bloom provides them with the training and skills to make them safe.

So one Saturday morning, she set up a Lemonade Stall in front of our house. We are not on a busy street, so we were worried she would not do well and be discouraged … but we were gladly proven wrong. For over 3 hours, she sold more than 40 cups of lemonade (for $1 each). In the end she raised $60 from lemonade and donations (including $7 of her own). She is now keen to figure out the next way she can raise money and for whom she will raise it.
